Why is my account locked?

Why is my account locked — quick answer with steps and helpful context for Javern users.

Updated 30 July 2026

Overview

We temporarily lock accounts to protect them from unauthorized access. A lock is usually short-term and easy to lift.

Common reasons for a lock

  1. Too many failed sign-in attempts. After several wrong password entries in a row, we pause sign-ins for a short period.
  2. Suspicious activity. Unusual sign-in locations, devices, or patterns can trigger a safety lock.
  3. Policy violation. Accounts flagged for breaching our community guidelines may be locked pending review.

How to unlock your account

  1. Wait it out. Most automatic lockouts clear after 15–30 minutes. Try signing in again after a short break.
  2. Reset your password. A successful password reset will often unlock the account. See How do I reset my password?.
  3. Contact support. If none of the above works, reach out to us with the email on your account and we'll investigate.
