Why was my payment reversed?

Why was my payment reversed — quick answer with steps and helpful context for Javern users.

Updated 31 July 2026

Overview

A payment reversal usually means the money you paid is being sent back to you — either as a refund to your Javern Wallet, or back to your card or bank through Paystack. It's not the same as the payment failing at checkout; it happens after a payment was already confirmed.

Common reasons for a reversal

  • The store rejected your order. Full refund is credited to your Javern Wallet instantly.
  • The order auto-cancelled after 72 hours because the store didn't accept in time. Full refund credited to your Javern Wallet.
  • You cancelled a pending payment before it fully cleared. Depending on your bank, the pending charge just drops off within a few days.
  • Duplicate charge — occasionally a payment is charged twice by the bank. Paystack reverses the extra charge.

Where the money goes

Refunds are credited to your Javern Wallet immediately, and you can use the balance for your next order or top up any time.

What to do

  • Check "My Orders" to see whether the order was rejected, cancelled, or auto-cancelled.
  • Check your Javern Wallet balance.
  • If the money isn't in your wallet, contact our support team with your order ID.
